Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled AZ Float Driver to join our construction team. You will be responsible for the safe loading, transport, and unloading of heavy construction equipment and materials to various job sites. This role is critical to maintaining project timelines, particularly for our asphalt paving crews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Transport:Safely operate a tractor-trailer with a float/lowboy to haul heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, rollers, pavers, skid steers).
  • Load Securement:Ensure all equipment is properly secured using chains, binders, and tie-downs in compliance with MTO regulations.
  • Inspections & Maintenance:Perform daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections; complete logbooks and maintenance reports.
  • Site Coordination:Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site supervisors to ensure equipment arrives on time and at the correct location.
  • Safety Compliance:Adhere to all federal and provincial legislation, including CVOR requirements and Highway Traffic Act regulations.  Adhere to company policies and safety procedures
  • General Assistance:Light maintenance

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Licensing: Valid Ontario Class AZ License with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in AZ driving, with specific experience in heavy equipment floating.
  • Asphalt Knowledge (Asset): Prior experience hauling asphalt materials is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of load securement, MTO regulations, and hours of service.
  • Physical Ability:Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical tasks like chaining and tarping in various weather conditions.
  • Reliability:Strong work ethic with the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends and holiday work may be required as project needs dictate.  Ability to work with little supervision in a fast-paced work environment
